The Margarita Society of Volusia surpassed last year's toy donation by bringing in 3,224 toys at its annual Margarita Ball.
The Margarita Society of Volusia County raised 3,224 toys for Christmas at its 2018 Margarita Ball at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach on Saturday, Nov. 17, surpassing the 3,200 toys collected at last year's ball.
The mission of the Margarita Ball is to provide toys to children this Christmas whose families cannot afford them. The toys collected at the ball will be donated to organizations like the Children Home Society, Salvation Army, Morning Star Baptist Church and the Early Learning Coalition.
Ormond Beach residents Tammy Navarra and Erin O'Quinn, directors of the Margarita Society of Volusia County, have helped organize this annual event for several years. The Margarita Society of Volusia County was started by Port Orange resident Jeff Evans 32 years ago. His wife, Cindy Kiel Evans, has recently started a new chapter in Flagler, which just hosted its second-annual Margarita Ball.
