April 27

Earth Day Celebration

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Riverwalk Park, 3459 S. Ridgewood Ave.

Details: Celebrate Earth Day with the city of Port Orange. Find the right bike or stand-up paddle board or kayak through demos, try yoga, build a craft and enjoy the outdoors. Live music. First 200 guests receive a free potted baby live oak tree. Free event. Call 506-5934.

May 4

Cinco De Mayo weekend bash

When: 3 p.m. to midnight on May 4, and noon-8 p.m on May 5

Where: La Fiesta Port Orange, 3785 S. Nova Road

Details: Celebrate Cinco De Mayo at La Fiesta’s 17th-annual bash. Enjoy bounce houses, stilt walkers, taco eating contest, best derby hat contest, live music and bull riding.

Keller Williams Realty Red Day golf tournament

When: 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Cypress Head Golf Club, 6231 Palm Vista St.

Details: Golf in support of Team Red, White, and Blue, a nonprofit for veteran connectedness, and Cudas Unhooked, a New Smyrna Beach nonprofit helping at-risk and homeless teens. Shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Includes a continental breakfast, lunch, range balls, cart fees, tournament fees, and prizes. $350 for a team of 4, and $90 for singles. Halifax Sport Fishing Club special needs fishing tournament

When: 9 a.m. to noon

Where: Dunlawton Bridge Pier, 93 Dunlawton Ave.

Details: Participate in a fishing competition for mentally and physically challenged kids and young adults. All kids must be accompanied by adults. The event is free, with bait and tackle supplied. Mother’s Day vendor and craft show

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Lakeside Community Center, 1999 City Center Circle

Details: Shop local for a Mother’s Day gift, celebrate mothers and explore community crafters. Show up for the chance to win door prizes.

May 13

Port Orange PAL Basketball sign-up deadline

When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday

Where: Port Orange Police Department, 4545 S. Clyde Morris Blvd.

Details: Sign up your child for summer basketball. Open to ages 8-17. Register at the Police Department or at two special registration day’s on May 4 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Port Orange Parks and Recreation Gym, located at 4655 City Center Circle. Must be a PAL member to participate. Sign-up deadline is May 13 and try-outs on May 18. Call 506-5877 or email [email protected]

May 18

First Annual Golf with a Cop Tournament

When: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Crane Lakes Golf and Country Club, 1850 Crane Lakes Blvd.

Details: Golf to assist Spouses Backing the Blue who aid law enforcement families during illness and work-related traumas. Shotgun start at 9 a.m. A raffle and silent auction will also be held. Lunch and refreshments included. Contact Jennifer at 366-0404.

May 27

Memorial Day Celebration

When: 10-11 a.m.

Where: City Center Veterans Park, 4655 City Center Circle

Details:  Honor our fallen soldiers at the city of Port Orange’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony, hosted by the VFW Post 3282. It will feature a display of colors, speeches and a 21-gun salute. Call 506-5936.
